Frankfurt Airport (IATA: FRA, ICAO: EDDF), is an airport serving the Frankfurt area in Germany. This airport was built with four runways that saw 212,334 airport movements in 2020. There are two asphalt runways 4,000 meters long, and two concrete runways; one is 2,800 meters and one is 4,000 meters. 18.7 million passengers passed through its gates in 2020, down from its normal 60 million-plus, and it has two terminals with a capacity of 65 million passengers annually. It is Germany’s busiest airport for passengers. It has the most direct destinations globally.
FRA opened as a commercial airport in 1936 and served as home-base for the Hindenburg, as well as other zeppelins. Its history goes back to 1909 when the first airline in the world was founded there. It was not until the 1960s that expansion happened that made this Germany’s busiest airport. With the addition of three more terminals and new runways, the airport was ready to handle the wide-bodied jets and more passengers.
There are 15,000 spaces and numerous parking options that include EV stations and Park, Sleep and Fly. Transportation to and from the airport includes buses, trains and rental cars.

Our flight was this time on time. After our arrival at the gat it took about 10 minutes to move the gangway bridge a few cm to the aircraft, even the crew was not informed of what is going on after another 10 minutes a very unfriendly guy moved the gangway bridge to a final position and informed our crew that there is something going on about a door at the terminal so the passengers could not exit the aircraft. Overall it took Frankfurt 35-40 minutes to fix the problem with the door so we could exit the aircraft. After that long waiting time it took the usual long time at the baggage claim to get you luggage.”

Those f**king automated passport reader gates never ever worked on first try. Queing up with lots of stressed passengers, it's a nuisance to put in passport multiple times, then being locked in the glass box, as face recognition doesn't like my glasses, but i am not allowed to be photographed without glasses (?!?) Fortunately, a nice guy from border control let me out manually ... welcoming me to my home country - thanks !”

FRA's terminal 2 is not a good experience airside. Very few shopping and fooding options available. Smoking lounges are ok for those who smoke but the place remains quite sad and depressing. Not impressed by the wifi. One positive note, security staff at controls were very nice and efficient.”
