Taiwan Taoyuan Airport (IATA: TPE, ICAO: RCTP) is an international airport serving the capital city of Taipei, Taiwan, and the northern parts of the island. Located about 40 km west of Taipei in Dayuan District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan, the airport is Taiwan’s largest airport. It is one of five Taiwanese airports with regular international flights, and is by far the busiest international air entry point amongst them. It is the main international hub for China Airlines and EVA Air.

The airport opened for commercial operations in 1979 and is an important regional trans-shipment center, passenger hub, and gateway for destinations in Asia. The airport was formerly known as Chiang Kai-shek Airport (CKS Airport) until the name was changed on 6 September 2006 to its current name.

Taiwan Taoyuan Airport is one of two airports that serves Taipei and northern Taiwan; the other, Taipei Songshan Airport, is located within Taipei City limits and served Taipei as its international airport until 1979. Songshan now mainly serves chartered flights, most of which are to and from China (see cross-strait charter), domestic flights, and some international flights to various locations in China (particularly Shanghai Hongqiao), Seoul, Korea, and Tokyo, Japan.

In 2015, Taiwan Taoyuan handled a total of 38,473,333 passengers and 2,021,865,100 kg of freight. The airport was the 11th busiest airport worldwide in terms of international passenger numbers, and 6th busiest in terms of international freight traffic.

Taipei Taoyuan Airport Reviews

★★★☆☆
The upgraded Terminal 1 looks modern and inviting, but lacks a high ceiling so it still feels claustrophobic? Not many facilities in the public area, save for a convenience store and some random shops. Airside also lack variety so all in all a very boring airport.

★★★☆☆
Runway is suck ,too shack Immigration/customs very quick for citizen Terminal facilities too old, only check in place looks much better and much modern. 硬體設備看起來舊舊的,CHECK IN 設備頗新。行李推車有點小問題。

★★★☆☆
This airport is getting worse, security and immigration took almost an hour as it's full off mainland tour group. Good facilities are pretty poor tooe just a Starbucks and burger king to choose from.

★★★★☆
Getting off the plane and to the immigration area was a comfortable and fast. However, being processed through immigration took an unacceptably long time. I remembered waiting in line for at least 30 minutes. Once clear of immigration though, the claim belts were close by and it was a short walk to the exit.

★★★★★
Very well organized airport, staff do their best. Star-Alliance status customers can benefit from 3 different lounges. Hopefully the metro to the airport will be completed soon, to be more independent of the road traffic situation.

I ended needing to book another flight. It was nice to have free public desktop to do the research and so on as my phone battery was dead and I didn't bring a charger. However as I couldn't use my phone I need it to print and that turned out to be an adventure not having an USB device to print in 7/11. Spent more than 2 hrs going around from information desk to airline counter, to wi fi desk to pretty much everybody. Eventually the airline desk gave their email address to print there but made look like suck a huge favor. Otherwise the airport is really cool, clean(cleaning personnel is doing a great job), spacious, beautiful design etc but PLEASE install a printer somewhere, ideally where the free pc is.

★★★☆☆
Very crowded terminal, SQ check-in line was long in economy, immigration was very long but kept moving at a fast pace. Duty free and shops are the same as any other airport. Duty free faces the exit from immigation, thus there is a lot of cross-traffic in the walkway between the two areas. SQ lounge is so-so but better than Inchon and SFO. Food and drink choice is limited. Serves Asti instead of champagne.

★★★★☆
Really a huge terminal. There are many tax-free shops and restaurants. Internet is extremely slow (Idk if the public computer's problem or not). Lovely and comfort seats.

★★★★☆
The food is too expensive !! And the attitude of the security staff is not very nice.Entirety, others srevice and equipment was satisfied.
