This airport is the home of EasyJet, Wizzair and two others. It is considered a military airport with commercial air traffic 24/7. There is one terminal with three ports. The check-ins and the arrivals are done on the main ground, and the upper level is for departures, as well as the home to most of the shopping. There are no jetports, and flights are boarded by either walk-on or buses on the tarmac.
NAP was used as a military airport during WWI and WWII. It hosted the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Forces during WWII. The RAF flew their Spitfires, and the United States flew their P-40s and others out of this airport.
In 1950, it was opened up to commercial traffic, and by 1980, the Gestione Servizi Aeroporto Capodichino (GE.S.A.C.) was formed to run the airport. By 1995, they were ready to put a 20-year development plan in action that would expand the airport. The first transatlantic flight left NAP in 2005, which was the start of its seasonal service.
