Delta to connect Glasgow-New York this summer

Delta has launched its new non-stop service from Glasgow to New York-JFK, offering greater travel choice between Scotland and the US.

Operated daily throughout the summer, the airline’s first-ever Glasgow route will provide convenient connections to more than 60 destinations throughout the US and beyond via Delta’s New York hub.

Meanwhile, to further strengthen the transatlantic network offered jointly from Scotland, Delta’s partner Virgin Atlantic will operate an extended seasonal service from Glasgow to Orlando this year.

The popular route is operating up to four times a week until November, boosting capacity to the Florida resort by nearly 20 per cent this year.

Virgin Atlantic is also celebrating its tenth anniversary in Glasgow, having launched its first service from the airport to Orlando in June, 2007.

Delta’s Glasgow route complements the airline’s existing daily seasonal service between Edinburgh and New York-JFK, launched last year.

Combined, Delta and Virgin Atlantic will offer seats for almost 9,000 customers to fly between Scotland and the United States each week during the peak travel months.

All flights offer fully flat-bed seats in Delta One and Virgin Upper Class and on-demand, in-seat entertainment for every passenger on the aircraft.

“Linking Glasgow non-stop to New York is an important step in strengthening our joint network to offer our Scottish customers greater travel choice to more destinations across the US, including Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles,” said Frank Jahangir, Delta vice president sales and affairs.

“The new flight will also boost inbound tourism by flying as many as 37,000 visitors to and from Glasgow this summer, providing more opportunities for American tourists to discover this exciting city for themselves.”
