TAP celebrates and widens Portugal Stopover programme

This summer, TAP is celebrating the first anniversary of its Portugal Stopover with several announcements making the programme more attractive.

As of September, travellers can spend more time getting to know Lisbon and Porto, as well as Madeira, Azores or Algarve, as TAP increases the duration of the stopover from three days to five.

It will also be possible to create a multi-destination journey, with a stopover in one of the locations offered by the programme.

Additionally, travellers can book a stopover on a one-way journey with TAP, providing more scope for taking advantage of the programme.

TAP launched the Portugal Stopover in July 2016, with the aim to encourage long-haul passengers in transit in Lisbon or Porto to take time to discover Portugal’s wonderful cities.

In February, TAP added new destinations to the programme, allowing travellers coming from any intercontinental flight, with Faro, Ponta Delgada, Terceira, Funchal and Porto Santo as destinations, to enjoy a stay in Lisbon or Porto at no extra cost.

TAP’s Portugal Stopover has established a network of over 150 partners, who ensure exclusive prices for customers in hotels, a complimentary bottle of Portuguese wine in restaurants as well as complimentary experiences, such as tuk-tuk rides, visits to museums, dolphin watching in the River Sado and food tastings.

Since its launch last summer, the Portugal Stopover has seen nearly 70,000 new tourists visit Portugal.
