Eurowings is expanding its long-haul connections. From November 2017, Eurowings will fly from Düsseldorf to the Caribbean, a destination already available to holidaymakers in North Rhine-Westphalia directly from Cologne.
Eurowings has been offering long-haul flights to the Caribbean, the Far East and the United States for almost two years.
Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic will kick-off with four flights a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, from November 8th.
This will be followed by Varadero in Cuba (with first flight on December 16th) and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic (December 14th).
Flights to Varadero are operated on Saturdays and to Puerto Plata every Thursday.
Cancun in Mexico, which Eurowings will fly to every Monday as of December 18th, completes the quartet.
Eurowings chief executive Oliver Wagner said: “As the state capital, Düsseldorf needs an attractive and affordable long-haul airline at North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest airport. Eurowings is prepared to take over this role.”
Wagner stresses, however, that the requirement for this is “that business operations at Düsseldorf airport improve significantly and that the economic conditions are right”.
