The airport is an operational base for several major airlines, including Air Canada, WestJet, and Alaska Airlines.

The Victoria International Airport (YYJ) opened back in 1931 as a modest dirt-strip serving floatplane operations. Today, it handles more than two million passengers annually and has grown to become the tenth busiest airport in Canada. YYJ covers over 500 hectares of land and boasts three runways ranging from 2,935 to 3,302 metres long that are capable of accommodating most aircraft types. As well as being a major hub for commercial air travel, Victoria Airport also caters to general aviation activities such as flight training schools and aerial tours.

Victoria Airport offers many amenities for travelers arriving or departing from the facility. The terminal building contains a variety of food outlets from fast-food chains to casual dining restaurants. There is also a duty free shop located directly after security offering shoppers a wide range of items at great prices. For those seeking rest or relaxation during their travels there are several lounges scattered throughout the airport – some requiring an access fee while others are complimentary with proof of membership or ticket purchase.

The facility boasts many state-of-the-art features such as SmartElevators which help speed up passenger wait times when taking escalators between floors; automated baggage systems which provide efficient handling of luggage; climate controlled hangars large enough to house five Boeing 787s; complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the entire premises; and numerous charging stations located around the terminal building providing power outlets for all kinds of devices travelling with passengers today.

On top of its modern facilities and services, YYJ is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery making it one of Canada’s most picturesque airports. From its green grassy knolls to its nearby sandy beaches lined with majestic old growth trees – Victoria Airport truly provides travellers with an amazing experience from take off to touchdown!
