Qatar Airways adds Sohar and Prague to global network

Qatar Airways has expedited the launch of two new destinations to the end of August 2017, with several more announcements to follow shortly.

Joining Qatar Airways’ global network are Sohar, in the sultanate of Oman, which will launch on August 8th, Prague, in the Czech Republic, which will launch on August 21st.

Qatar will offer three-weekly flights between Doha and Sohar from August, while the service between Doha and Prague will operate on a daily basis.

Both destinations will be operated by Qatar Airways’ Airbus A320 aircraft.

Qatar Airways recently launched a direct daily service to Dublin, Republic of Ireland, as part of its rapid global expansion strategy, with service to Nice, France, commencing July 4th, and flights to Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, on July 17th.

Qatar Airways chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar Airways’ announcement today comes at a time when we are accelerating our global expansion plans by expediting the launch of these two new destinations.”

Laptop Ban

Qatar Airways also confirmed earlier that all personal electronic devices can now be carried on board all departures from Hamad International Airport to destinations in the United States, lifting the laptop ban with immediate effect.

“Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport have met with all requirements of the US department of homeland security’s new security guidelines and we would like to express our thanks to the US and local authorities for their support during this process,” read a statement from the carrier.

“We would also like to thank our loyal passengers for their understanding and patience while the ban has been in place.”
