Het heeft twee asfaltbetonbanen; een is 3.707 meter en de andere is 3.010 meter lang. Het bediende 4,6 miljoen passagiers in 2021, wat minder is dan de normale 16 miljoen passagiers in 2019. Het bestaat uit twee terminals, waarbij Terminal 2 twee vleugels heeft die verbonden zijn door een Sky Court waar passagiers kunnen wachten, maar ook hun boodschappen kunnen doen.
BUD begon als een idee in 1938 als een luchthaven voor zowel civiel als militair gebruik. Aan het eind van de Tweede Wereldoorlog was een groot deel van de luchthaven verwoest, dus toen hij in de jaren vijftig heropend werd, was het verkeer beperkt. Tussen de jaren 1960 en 1980 was er behoefte aan verdere ontwikkeling, aangezien het verkeer in 1974 een miljoen bereikte. Dit leidde tot een nieuwe verkeerstoren, een extra startbaan en een nieuwe terminal die jaarlijks 3,5 miljoen passagiers kon verwerken.
Er is parkeergelegenheid voor korte en lange termijn in de buurt van de terminal, evenals op een terrein op drie tot vijf minuten loopafstand. Er zijn bussen, taxi’s, treinen en huurauto’s die vervoer van en naar de luchthaven aanbieden.
