Montego Bay Sangster International Airport is Jamaica’s busiest airport. Located in the city of Montego Bay, the airport serves as a major gateway to western Jamaica, offering a range of international and domestic flights to destinations around the world. It’s also one of the Caribbean’s main hubs for air travel.

The airfield that would eventually become Montego Bay Sangster Airport was constructed in 1939 by the British Royal Air Force and served as a military base for most of World War II. After the war ended, it was converted into an international airport for commercial passengers in 1974 and has since seen considerable renovation and expansion.

The airport consists of two terminal buildings, both located near each other on either side of a runway that stretches 4500 feet long. The North Terminal is used primarily for international arrivals and departures, while the South Terminal handles regional traffic from within Jamaica. Both terminals are equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning, comfortable seating areas, ATMs, restaurants and shops.

Montego Bay Sangster Airport is also home to many airlines including Air Canada Express, JetBlue Airways, Copa Airlines and Delta Air Lines. In addition to regular scheduled passenger services throughout the Caribbean region, there are also charter flights operating from here to other points throughout Latin America, Europe and beyond.

The airport boasts award-winning customer service and is often rated as one of the best airports in its home country by professionals who evaluate their experiences when visiting or travelling through them. It was also voted “Best Airport in Jamaica” by Skytrax from 2014 to 2016 and again in 2018/2019 making it one of only four airports in all of North America to receive this prestigious award twice in a row during this time period.

On top of being an efficient gateway for travellers going abroad or returning home to Jamaica; Montego Bay Sangster Airport is also renowned for its duty free shopping paradise where customers can purchase alcoholic beverages, tobacco products and designer goods at remarkable discounts; all without having to leave the confines of the terminal building itself! Furthermore if you decide you want to go out into town after collecting your baggage; courtesy buses depart regularly from just outside both terminals taking passengers directly into Montego Bay’s city centre where they can explore all that this vibrant tourist destination has to offer at their leisure.

In conclusion; whether you’re planning a holiday escape or just passing through on business; Montego Bay Sangster International Airport is an ideal starting point due to its combination of world-class facilities backed up with friendly customer service combined with easy access into town – making it an attractive option for people coming from both near and far away!

Montego Bay Sangster Airport Reviews

★★★☆☆
The modifacation and new bildings are great 4 Star
- Derrick Hind

★☆☆☆☆
I've never seen something like this. Almost 2 hours in line to get checked-in. Huge mess, wrong seats assigned.
- Jan Witowski

★★★★★
Went over duty day and stayed overnight at Hilton Rose Hill resort.
- Jonathan Marohnic

★★★★★
Departure lounge looks more like a shopping mall..
- Admin_Grande

★★☆☆☆
Arrived in the old part of the airport, felt like I was walking through a college dorm or an old apartment building. Customs was absolutely a mess, pulled from a line to stand in another line only to re-join the line I was already in. Over an hour to clear customs & never got my passport stamped or photo visa thing collected? Completely disorganized. Departure hall was much nicer and the duty free shopping was excellent.
- Ryan O'Reilly

★★★★★
This is barely a 3 star airport, UNLESS you use Club Mobay. Travel agent suggested using the Club Mobay Arrivals and Departure service and so glad we did. Been to MBJ 4 times now and each time the immigrationh hall was packed with literally hundreds of people, and customs wasn't much better, after you get your luggage. But with Club Mobay, you're met by a Club Mobay Rep almost as soon as you get off the plane and you bypass all the cattle lines and go straight to a dedicated counter. Never had anymore than 3 people ahead of us each time and once there was no one ahead of us. Same going through customs. You wait off to the side with your baggage while the Rep takes your passport and immigration papers and she just walks up to a customs officer, even if they're servicing another passenger, and the officer stamps your passport. She comes back and takes you through an separate opening and your good to go. You don't even speak to a customs officer! Then you go to their lounge for free food and drink and you can even get a shower if you want. Their departure service is no different when it comes to skipping lines and getting fast tracked through security, but the lounge is amazing and 10 times better than the arrivals lounge. I know this might sound like an ad for Club Mobay, but no, I don't work for them. It's just a tip on how to turn a mediocre airport into one that you absolutely love to go to. If you've used Club Mobay, you'll understand, if not, just check Trip Advisor and you'll see what I mean.
- Max Webster

★★★☆☆
Checkin is a nightmare. Why easy, when complicated works as well? Waited 1,5 hours, had to do nonsens manual paperwork at the desk. Like writing an additional tag for the suitcase, because own tags are not enough? Food and retail service behind security are very good and variegated.
- Meinolf

★★★☆☆
Extremely extensive Food/drinks after passing the security check. Also the duty free shop is overprized.
