Long-haul growth buoys passenger traffic at Paris airports in first half

FRANCE. Passenger traffic at Paris’ two major airports climbed by +5% to 48.5 million in the first six months of 2017. The H1 figures were driven by a +5.2% rise at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to 32.9 million, while Paris Orly traffic grew by +4.8% to 15.5 million.

The figures were buoyed by a +5.9% increase in long-haul international traffic. Within this, the Middle East (+7.6%), Africa (+7%), North America (+6.7%) and Asia Pacific (+6.5%) posted impressive rises. Traffic on European routes climbed by +5.6% year-on-year between January and June.

In June 2017, the two airports (managed by Groupe ADP under the Paris Aéroport banner) welcomed 8.9 million passengers, an increase of +5.3% compared with June 2016. Paris CDG had 6.1 million passengers (+6.7%) and 2.8 million travelled through Paris Orly (+2.2%).

During the month, international traffic (excluding Europe) was up by +7.6% with growth to and from all key regions. These include North America (+10.4%), the Middle East (+8.4%), Asia Pacific (+7.9%), Africa (+5.7%), Latin America (+4.2%) and the French Overseas Territories (+4.1%).

European traffic (excluding France) rose by +3.9%, while traffic within France climbed by +4.2%.

Passenger traffic at TAV Airports, 46.1%-owned by Groupe ADP, increased by +9.1% in June and by +2.4% since the beginning of the year. Passenger traffic at Santiago de Chile Airport, 45%-owned by Groupe ADP, showed growth of +7.8% in June and +9.9% in the first half.
