“A balanced, quality offering”: Areas unveils new food & beverage line-up at Ibiza Airport

SPAIN. Areas has revamped four of its food & beverage concessions at Ibiza Airport.

The company, which has operated at the airport since 2004, has introduced Deli&Cia, StrEat (featuring Rossosapore, Kirei, Can Terra and La Mediterránea) and Santa Gloria/The Market, and will open French bakery chain Paul in 2018.

The concessions cover more than 10,700sq ft of space and Areas has an eight-year operations contract. It also manages the Café del Mar outlet in the airport.

With the new concepts, Areas said its aim was to introduce favourite local food concepts at the airport, such as the pintxos (morsels of food on skewers) and tapas from Can Terra and the pastries from La Mediterránea, and combine them with national and international names.

“This revamp shores up Areas’ commitment to Ibiza Airport and responds to the company’s decision to drive quality concepts and offer the best experience to our clients in all the airports where it operates,” said Areas CEO for Spain, Portugal and Latin America Oscar Vela. “It is a balanced, quality offering that blends innovative concepts, tailored to travellers and prevailing in large cities, and recognised by an international clientele as well as the people from Ibiza.”

Deli&Cia is an airport-exclusive concept created by Areas and is located in a 1,064sq ft space at Ibiza. It offers a revamped line of products covering sandwiches, bagels, wraps, and hot and cold baguettes based on Mediterranean recipes, as well as fresh salads and contemporary products.

Areas has so far opened 17 Deli&Cia outlets in six different countries with new launches planned for France, the USA, Chile, Mexico and Colombia.

Coffee & bakery concept SantaGloria offers coffee, chocolate drinks, and tea, as well as sweet and savoury options. It is located next to multi-store The Market, which features a range of newspapers and magazines, books, gifts, and souvenirs, along with convenience food and regional delicacies.

French bakery chain Paul will open in 2018 when the airport has finished its improvement works in the security checkpoint area. It will feature in a 2,100sq ft space, offering a range of sandwiches and other items.

StrEAT integrates four different spaces inspired by the street-food trend in a 524sq m area. Pastelería Mediterránea is a local favourite with two specialised confectionery and pastry outlets on the island. Can Terra has outlets in downtown Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca and is known for its meat, pintxos and tapas.

Japanese restaurant Kirei by Kabuki and Neapolitan restaurant Rossosapore complete the StrEAT line-up.
