After reviewing all these new whiskeys recently it only seems right that I should drink some of them this weekend (a perk of the job!). The great thing about whiskey is that you can drink it some many different ways – straight, on the rocks, with soda, with coke, with water – or my favorite, in a cocktail.
One of the easiest cocktails to make is a Whiskey Sour. Here’s the recipe that I follow:
- 5 fluid ounces blended whiskey
- 1 fluid ounce sugar syrup
- 2 fluid ounces lemon juice
- plenty of ice
- maraschino cherry for garnish
Easy as pie to make, just put all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker (bar the cherry) and give it a good old shake. Pour out into a martini glass, add the cherry, sit back and enjoy. Rinse and repeat!
