“ Terrible airport with difficult access if driving (or rental return); good access if using taxi or train). Not obvious on how to walk from terminal to rental car parking (which is on-site). From rental car, must take a bus that get jammed full of people and luggage - highly annoying and essentially is a kludge. Once in terminal, check-in and security are pretty standard. Departure gates are horrible and overcrowded. Shopping and food crammed into small spaces or kiosks. Boarding gate area gets jammed up as flights depart nearly simultaneously and people line up early and in no particular order. Flight delays into/out of this airport occur frequently due to runway configuration and weather. Bottom-line, unless you need fast, metro access into DC proper, I'd recommend using BWI (typically the cheapest) or IAD.”
