Velana International Airport (VIA) is the main international airport in the Maldives. It is also known as Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, in honor of the second President of the Maldives. Velana Airport is located on Hulhulé Island, a few kilometers away from the capital city of Male. It serves as a gateway to the Maldives for over 5 million passengers every year, making it one of the busiest airports in South Asia.
The airport has three passenger terminals: Domestic Terminal 1, Domestic Terminal 2 and International Terminal 3. All three terminals provide modern amenities including duty free shopping, restaurants, lounges and other services for travelers. The International Terminal is home to numerous airlines operating flights to destinations all over the world including Europe, Asia and North America. In addition, Velana Airport also hosts several international cargo operations originating from China, India and Sri Lanka.

The runway is also equipped with an Instrument Landing System (ILS) for aircraft landing approaches at night or during adverse weather conditions. A separate Cargo terminal was added to VIA in 2017 offering facilities for both domestic and international cargo charter flights.
