This airport has one grooved asphalt runway 3,049 meters long, and there were 199,925 airport movements and 28.1 million passengers served in 2019. STN began in 1943 and during WWII, the RAF and USAAF used the airport as a bomber airfield. After the war, the airport was opened for civilian use in 1949. Holiday charter flights began in 1966, and over 15 airlines use the airport today, with nine of those offering seasonal flights. Transatlantic flights to the United States started in the 1990s, but these services started and stopped several times due to economics.
Parking is offered for long- and short-term, as well as valet and meet and greet parking. Ground transportation includes buses, coaches, taxis and trains.
