Orio al Serio Airport, located in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, is one of the country’s busiest airports. It is the third busiest airport in Italy for international passenger numbers and the busiest for low cost flights. The airport serves many cities in Europe, especially those within a few hours’ flying time from it.

The airport is named after Giuseppe Orio al Serio, a World War II air force pilot who was killed during a mission in 1944. The airport has two separate passenger terminals and 44 gates. The main terminal handles domestic flights as well as international ones from countries such as Switzerland, Germany, France and various other parts of Europe. There are also several VIP lounges located inside Terminal 1 and an executive lounge in Terminal 2.

Orio al Serio Airport is served by several airlines including easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Volotea. It offers direct flights to numerous destinations such as London Stansted Airport (STN), Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN) among many others. Additionally, it also offers seasonal services to destinations like Alicante Airport (ALC) and Malaga Costa del Sol Airport (AGP).

The airport features some other facilities such as car rental agencies, ATM machines, currency exchange offices, shops selling local goods and souvenirs as well as a range of restaurants offering Italian cuisine. For convenience to travelers there are various transport options available which include bus service from Milan Central Station to Orio al Serio Airport which takes about 40 minutes; shuttle buses that run between the two terminals; taxis; private transfers by car or minibus; and parking spaces for vehicles belonging to passengers traveling with them to the airport.

Orio al Serio has been developed over recent years due to its increasing popularity amongst passengers travelling within Europe on budget airlines looking for convenient departures from Italy’s third largest city – Milan Malpensa International Airport (MXP). One example of this expansion includes plans to develop new runways at both Terminals 1 & 2 so that they can accommodate more traffic during peak travel periods. This development would enable the airport to increase its capacity significantly because it would allow more aircrafts to land on each runway at any given time.

In conclusion Orio al Serio International Airport is an important gateway into Northern Italy’s bustling city of Milan with countless opportunities for budget conscious travelers looking for convenience when travelling across Europe or just visiting Northern Italy itself with ease. Its strategic location offers travellers access not only to major cities within Europe but also destinations around the world too – providing even greater value for money at discount prices allowing people from all walks of life to enjoy their holiday without breaking the bank!

Orio al Serio Airport Reviews

★★★☆☆
A little bit of claustrophobic airport but in the complex nice annd well organized. the only negative thing is that the majority of duty free shops and others are located after the security checks and so before you cannot see anything. Orio al serio shuttle is faboulous!!
- Riccardo Tadei

★★★★★
Airport that is growing very fast, the third in Italy. Based in a strategic position. The building is new, excellent atmosphere and nice staff at the terminal. Prime operative hub for Ryanair in Italy
- Edoardo

★★★★☆
Nice airport very close to the city center of Bergamo. Has direct buses to Milan with very good prices. Many shops and restaurants inside. Spacious area around the gates. Although it seems to host mainly cheap airlines, it looks like standard airport in any other bigger city.
- Agata Derc

★★★☆☆
The new BGY interiors are well done and much better than the older BGY "terminal". Quick custom and the terminal is small enough to make everything quick and easy. Issue is that the actual BGY cannot stand 10mln passengers and when there are heavy periods there is way too much people. It needs expansions.
- Paolo Fumagalli

★★★★☆
Aeroporto molto confortevole, abbastanza grande.
- Simone Rizzi

★★★★☆
It is relatively easy to get to the airport from most of the surrounding area, including Milan and Lake Como. Security was a disaster but the departure lounge was excellent, with many shopping and food options.
- James Lee

★★★★★
A fantastic airport in the heart of Lombardy. New and fresh atmosphere and all services available. The home of Ryanair and one of the best airports in Italy.
- Edoardo

★★★★☆
The airport is small and well connected to europe, it offers a lot of destinations and it can be a great alternative for other airports in the same area. The Terminal facilities are satisfying and the baggage claim is fast. The only black spot is the connection with Milano, there are only buses available about every 30 mins and it can take minimum 50 mins to reach the airport, worst if there is traffic.
- Ernes

★☆☆☆☆

★★★★☆
The airport is small, but there are a lot of flights. It has just one security check line for lots of flights, so have time before departure!!!
