DWC, ook bekend als Dubai World Central, beschikt over vier start- en landingsbanen en kan 24 uur per dag A380 superjumbo’s verwerken. Gelijktijdige landingsmogelijkheden houden deze luchthaven in beweging, en drie terminals en talrijke hallen helpen om efficiënt te werken. Het zal uiteindelijk via een hogesnelheidsspoorwegsysteem worden verbonden met zijn zusterluchthaven, Dubai International Airport.
DWC opende zijn deuren in 2010 met één landingsbaan en bediende alleen vrachtvluchten. Binnen een jaar kon het kleine luchtvaartmaatschappijen aan met 60 passagiers of minder aan boord. Daarna werd het opengesteld voor meer maatschappijen en zag het in 2014 102.000 passagiers komen en gaan.
De luchthaven is nog steeds bezig met de bouw van haar complex om jaarlijks tussen de 160 miljoen en 260 miljoen passagiers door haar deuren te verwerken. Het grootste deel van de luchthaven is momenteel gewijd aan vracht en slechts een klein aantal luchtvaartmaatschappijen zoals Emirates en FlyDubai vliegen passagiers in en uit. Het doel is om tegen 2027 meer passagiersvluchten dan vrachtvluchten te zien.
Reizen van en naar de luchthaven is gemakkelijk, met taxi-, bus- en metrodiensten en autoverhuur. Er is parkeergelegenheid voor korte en lange termijn.
