Osaka/Itami airport is a medium-sized old-fashioned airport which handled the international traffic until 1994. The service on the ANA/South terminal is prompt and fast. Star Alliance Gold members can use the fast lane service, and the ANA Lounge after passing the security gates. The airport have two runways 32L/14R and 32R/14L. Most of the large aircrafts land on 32L/14R. Due to the agreement with the local municipalities, the airport is only open from 6am to 9:30pm JST.

★★★☆☆
Average decent Japanese airport with adequate range of shops and dining options. Access to the airport by public transport a slight pain though as it is not connected to a main metro line but only to a light rail line which you have to take for one stop before changing to a metro line that gets you downtown. Still, better than Kansai's long and expensive train rides.

★★★★☆
Not a whole lot going on here. It's very easy and cheap to get here from Osaka or Kyoto though and frequent flights to Tokyo allow for great international connection opportunities. Nothing really in terms of food passed security, but security was quick and my flight left right away so it wasn't a big problem for me. Don't get here early. You'll be too bored.

★☆☆☆☆
Rather dysfunctional as check in and bag drop are 2 separate queues and counters. Very slow service too. Each queue takes about 20 minutes. Would recommend flying out of KIX instead even though that is a bit further from town.
