This airport has one 2,665 grooved asphalt runway that saw 8.8 million passengers and 86,226 aircraft movements in 2019. That makes it Scotland’s second-busiest airport. In the 1990s, GLA was the first U.K. airport to screen all of the baggage that went through the doors due to the Lockerbie bombing. The RAF continues to use this airport as a base.
