There are close to 300 daily flights from its two asphalt runways and three-level terminal based on 2,060 acres. It handles a large number of charters, too. 18.9 million passengers moved through WAW in 2019, helping it to remain Poland’s busiest airport.

WAW opened in 1934 as the Warsaw-Okecie Airport and eventually was renamed for Warsaw’s Frédéric Chopin in 2001. The airport added an underground train that connects the airport to Warsaw’s rail system, and a new terminal was built in 2015. During WWII, there was a fierce battle between Poland and Germany at the airport that left it in ruins. At the end of the war, the airport was rebuilt, and it expanded in 1961 with the purchase of a radar system for civilian air traffic. 1969 saw the official opening of the airport, and one million people moved through the new terminal.

Parking is abundant with 3,000 spots for long- and short-term parking, bus parking and premium parking. There are 89 Kiss and Fly spaces. Ground transportation includes buses, trains, taxis and rental cars.

Warsaw Chopin Airport Reviews

★★★★☆
Great improvement. Airport changed a lot during last 5-10 years and still catching up best european airports. Only Cafe/Restaurant prices should be more reasonable
- telesfor

★★★★☆
McDonalds solves all the food problems. Simply don't eat anywhere else. Great wifi, and FREE showers.
- Piotr Adamczyk

★★★★☆
The airport is very nice, security was fairly swift, although there were issues with check-in which resulted in check-in opening late. Food outlets very very expensive, vastly overpriced, so bring your own food!
- Adam Mugliston

★★★★★
Lovely big airport, big capacity, lots of seats, good restaurants, clean toilets. It's a pleasure to fly from this airport
- Daniel Wawryszewicz

★★★☆☆
The seats in the waiting area of the gate are bare metal, which is not neat for waiting over 4h if you arrived early.
- Patrik Karisch

★☆☆☆☆
Had a layover in Warsaw, Poland. Both legs were with the Polish Airline LOT, and they booked me with 40 minutes of change time. The airplane arrived 20 minutes early and the crew said we will make it fine, and did not provide staff to help us. We would have missed the flight just because of the huge line at passport control, but then there was the additional security check. Plus LOT kindly canceled the flight at the last minute, so we had to stand in line for more than 90 minutes at the huge line at the airport transfer counter...
- Péter

★★★★☆
Easy airport to navigate round, helpful staff, but food and drink prices must be the highest in the world.
- John Neel

★★★★★
On route from Romania, easy process. Security folk look like you do not mess with them, but friendly and helpful.
- John Neel

★★★★☆
Nice small airport with good retail and facilities. Large seating areas, a lot of light and good apron views.
- maalesh

★★☆☆☆
Terrible airport. Very slow border control and discourteous service at the border. Airport officials do not recognise passport wich are don't need visa. Also very discourteous personalities. I will avoid this airport and will take Riga or Helsinki.
