This airport has three runways; there is a 2,400 meter and a 3,320 meter concrete runway, and the other is a 3,650-meter bituminous concrete runway. Because they destroyed it to stop the Germans, the U.S. made repairs to the airport. The airport was returned to France in 1947, and when France withdrew from NATO, the Americans left the airport. After 1958, nonstop flights to New York were routine.
