Uniqlo To Go: Brand introduces vending machine concept at Oakland Airport

USA. Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo has introduced a “first-of-its-kind” vending machine concept at Oakland International Airport in California.

The new shopping experience, called Uniqlo To Go, aims to bring the Fast Retailing-owned brand’s LifeWear apparel to customers on-the-go.

The vending machine-inspired design will roll out to a further nine US locations throughout August and September. Confirmed locations are: Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles (10 August), Houston Airport (17 August) and Queens Center in New York (22 August). The vending machines will sell Uniqlo’s UltraLight Down jackets (US$69.90) and HEATTECH Tops (US$14.90) in a variety of colours and styles for men and women.

Uniqlo USA CEO Hiroshi Taki said:

“We are looking forward to introducing a new and easier way of shopping. Uniqlo To Go machines will carry the best of LifeWear, providing convenience to travellers looking for a warm jacket without the bulk or a versatile undershirt, all with the push of a button. Our aim is to answer the real needs of our customers through clothing, and we hope to broaden the reach of that mission through this new concept.”
