Premium absinthe brand Larusée makes travel retail debut with Dufry

Swiss absinthe brand Larusée has partnered with Dufry to launch two of its premium variants in travel retail.

The brand’s white absinthe Larusée Bleue (55%abv) and green absinthe Larusée Verte (65%abv) are available at Geneva and Zürich Airports in 1-litre bottles. Larusée Bleue is priced at CHF72 (€66) and Larusée Verte is priced at CHF92 (€85).

Larusée absinthe is distilled in Fenin, near Neuchâtel, Switzerland, and is made from around 12 aromatic plants and herbs. The herbs are said to be weighed to the nearest gramme before being placed in 120-litre “chauffe” chambers in a still designed by Larusée.

Larusée Verte is distilled in the same way as Larusée Bleue, but immediately after distillation a bouquet of plants is left to soak in it which provides strong herbal notes. Both can be enjoyed as an aperitif with cold water or as a digestif.

Bottling is done individually and corking is carried out by a special machine developed in partnership with a local mechanic. Labels are added one by one using a Nantaise manual labelling machine and wax sealing of the neck is done in an old saucepan.

Larusée was founded in 2012 by two friends: Jean-Pierre Candaux and Nicolas Nyfeler.

The company said:

“We pride ourselves in providing the human touch at every stage of each bottle’s journey through production. All the better to pass on our love of a job well done and make each bottle a work of art in its own right.”
