New Orleans’ New Terminal Opens for Business

New Orleans International Airport’s much delayed new terminal building is now operational. The $1bn facility had been set to be open in May 2018, but its completion date was rescheduled four times before it received its first aircraft arrivals in the late evening of November 5. Its first departure took place as planned on the following morning.

Stephen Perry, president and CEO of New Orleans & Company commented: “We are thrilled to trumpet the opening of the new Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport terminal, the first of its kind to be built in the US in over a decade.

“Our visitors and residents will now enjoy a state-of-the-art facility that incorporates New Orleans’ culture through the local concessions, retail vendors and live music.

“This airport terminal will immerse our guests in the spirit of New Orleans upon arrival – and will also give our residents a welcome reminder of how nice it is to return home — to New Orleans.”
