New Hangar Capacity for Vienna Airport

Flughafen Wien AG, the management company for Vienna Airport is building two new hangars for general aviation. The new facilities are being built on behalf of its subsidiary, Vienna Aircraft Handling (VAH). The new hangars will measure 180×213 ft (55x65m) with a door entrance height of 32.8ft (10m). Named Hangars 8 and 9 they will provide sufficient room for aircraft up to the size of a Bombardier Global business jet.

The first, Hangar 8, is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2019, and will be followed by Hangar 9 alongside it a few months later. At that point VAH will then have four large hangars with a total area of approximately 172,222sq ft (16,000m²). The airport said the development will rank its general aviation site among the top ten business aviation airports in Europe. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Julian Jäger and Günther Ofner, who are both members of the Management Board of Flughafen Wien, plus Michael Zach and Joubin Pour, the managing directors of VAH as well as the airport’s project management for the construction project.
