It was opened to the public in 1969, and in 2016, over 3 million passengers were moved through the airport. It has one asphalt runway and one terminal. Most of its flights are within Spain, but the spring and summer see an influx of international flights headed towards Italy, Germany and the U.K.
MAH’s terminal has three levels that offer a ground-level where shopping, food and drink can be found, as well as the arrivals and baggage claim. The first level is home to 42 check-in desks, and all flights depart from the second level, as well as pass through security and passport checkpoints. There are 16 boarding gates. They offer a children’s playroom, a smoking area and a pharmacy.
Ground transportation includes buses, taxis and rental cars. There are ample numbers of parking places for short stays, and long-term parking and express parking are also available; although, express parking only has a 40-vehicle capacity.
