Lotte Duty Free and L’Oréal launch digital makeup service Dream Face

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has partnered with L’Oréal Group to launch Dream Face, a new virtual makeup service, through the retailer’s mobile app.

Dream Face allows users to virtually experience (and purchase) colour cosmetics from four L’Oréal brands, including Lancôme, Giorgio Armani, Urban Decay and L’Oréal Paris, under a one-year agreement.

The new pilot service was developed over three months. Lotte Duty Free said it allows customers “to virtually experience the products that are right for them without having to visit the store and immediately purchase them”.

Dream Face supports the Live Camera and the Photo Simulation features in smartphones to capture both live images and pictures stored on the phone. It can display dozens of colours across categories such as lipstick, mascara and foundation, and can recommend colours taking into account the shape of the face, the neck and existing makeup use.

Lotte Duty Free released the Dream Face service at a special event earlier this month at its flagship Seoul Myeongdong store, in partnership with L’Oréal. It gathered Lotte Duty Free VIP customers along with domestic and international influencers, who could view the service on a tablet installed in the store (see images).

Lotte Duty Free CEO Lee Kap said:“It is more meaningful to introduce our digital shopping service through close cooperation with brands. We will provide a new shopping experience to our customers through various other services in the future.”
