Great British hospitality at Luton Airport: TRG opens The Smithfield Pub and Kitchen

UK. TRG Concessions has opened The Smithfield Pub and Kitchen at London Luton Airport. The 7,000sq ft pub concept, part of LLA’s £110 million (US$131 million) redevelopment, is the airport’s largest F&B airside outlet.

The project is the largest in TRG Concessions’ history. It is forecast to serve 1 million travellers a year, generating £150 million (US$196 million) in revenue over a ten-year contract period.

The menu, inspired by the eponymous London meat market, features traditional pub snacks, British dishes and globally inspired products. Selections include The Butcher’s Breakfast and Duck Bubble.

An exclusive Golden IPA produced by Greene King brewery will feature, along with a range of local and global beers from craft breweries.

The seating area includes charging points, zoned seating areas and flight display boards for customer convenience.

TRG Concessions Managing Director Nick Ayerst said: “The Smithfield shows TRG Concessions’ ambition to give LLA’s rapidly growing passenger audience the ultimate pub experience before their flight. The new pub occupies a prime location in the terminal and we look forward to welcoming all who visit for years to come.”

A Taste of Tradition: The Smithfield will serve British pub classics from an open kitchen

“We’re delighted to welcome The Smithfield as the latest addition to our strong line-up of F&B brands joining LLA,” said London Luton Airport Commercial Director Rupert Lawrie.  “2017 is shaping up as an exciting year for the airport, with our redevelopment project gathering real momentum.

“Building on our success last year, including the opening of Aelia’s flagship duty free store and a new £1 million (US$1.3 million) executive lounge, we are doubling our existing retail space to offer our passengers a wider range of shopping and dining options, making the passenger experience more relaxing and enjoyable than ever.”
