Dufry opens enhanced duty free arrivals store in Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport

JAMAICA. Dufry has opened its newly refurbished Montego Bay Duty Free arrivals store at Sangster International Airport in Jamaica.

The walk-through store now occupies a total area of 115sq m, compared to the previous 10sq m.

Dufry said the targeted product offer included a range of international and local liquors, tobacco, international confectionery, fragrances and sunglasses. The retailer noted that local passengers would benefit from lower prices compared to the domestic market.

“Jamaica is an important operation for the company and we are delighted to be making strides to pave the way for its continued success,” said Dufry Division CEO for LATAM René Riedi. “We hope our customers enjoy shopping in this new store as much as we did creating it with our airport partners.”

Development work to renovate the store was carried out in close collaboration with MBJ Airports Limited. Dufry has worked in partnership with the company since 2012.

MBJ Airports CEO Rafael Echevarne commented:

“We have seen continuous enhancement of Dufry’s commercial offering at Sangster International Airport in recent years. Our strong relationship is ultimately delivering a refined offering for the benefit of our passengers. We are extremely happy with this latest development and are convinced that our passengers will be pleased as well.”

The revamp of the store has created six new jobs.

Dufry said the next stage of its development plan in Jamaica would be the opening of a store in Ocho Rios. The inauguration is planned for the second half of this year.
