Baltimore/Washington Airport offers concession opportunities to small and minority-owned businesses

US. Small and minority-owned businesses in the Maryland/Washington D.C. Metro area have been invited to explore opportunities to start a retail or grab-and-go food & beverage business at Baltimore/Washington International (BWI) Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The opportunities arise from Launch Pad BWI, an internship concession programme run by the airport and partner Fraport Maryland. It enables local business owners to participate in the airport’s retail programme for a limited period, and proposals for 2021 are now being accepted.

Entrepreneurs successful in enrolling in the programme have access to operating a business with a low investment, business resources, and ongoing business development training.

Small and minority businesses welcomed to the airport under the Launch Pad BWI initiative since it was piloted in 2017 include Fran’s Organic Bodycare and Fashion Spa House.

A Launch Pad BWI 2021 Informational Session is being staged on 18 May for interested parties. The free virtual event will be hosted by a partnership of Fraport Maryland, BWI Marshall Airport and The Nelson Ideation Group (TNIG).

TNIG is a local consulting group helping with community outreach for the virtual event.
