AirAsia celebrates 20 million BIG Loyalty members

ASIA/INTERNATIONAL. AirAsia’s BIG Loyalty programme has reached 20 million members worldwide, a major milestone for the scheme, the company said.

The programme now averages 500,000 sign-ups each month. The five largest markets in terms of member bases are Malaysia (3.6 million), China (2.3 million), Thailand (2.1 million), Indonesia (1.4 million) and India (1.1 million).

To celebrate, AirAsia BIG Loyalty is giving away a total of 20 million ‘BIG Points’ to its most active members from 1 September to 30 November as part of its #WeAre20MilBIG contest.

BIG members who earn, redeem or convert the most points during these months will have the chance of winning 20,000 BIG points every week or 50,000 each month, as well as one grand prize of 200,000 points at the end of the period.

Members can take part simply by earning BIG points, which are attained by purchasing qualifying AirAsia flights as well as by spending with a variety of the airline’s partners, including BigPay.

AirAsia BIG Loyalty was established in November 2011. It gives members access to the lowest flight fares across AirAsia’s network, the brand explained.

The scheme has won a number of awards since its inception, including Best Use of Technology at the Loyalty Awards 2018 for its Freedom Flyer Programme, and Gold for Best Loyalty Programme (Travel/Hospitality) at Loyalty and Engagement Awards 2018.

AirAsia Deputy Group CEO Aireen Omar said: “Achieving this milestone is a big part of our digital plans for the airline, and members can look forward to even more opportunities to use their BIG Points as we move towards making it the currency of choice for the AirAsia Group ecosystem and our network of lifestyle partners across the region.”

Omar will be speaking at this year’s Trinity Forum in Shanghai.
