Tucson Airport, known formally as Tucson International Airport (TIA), is a public airport located six miles south of the central business district of Tucson, Arizona. It is the second busiest airport in Arizona and serves as an international gateway for air travel to and from the United States.

The airport began operations in 1928 as Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and was used primarily by the US Air Force during World War II. In 1964, the base was decommissioned and converted into a commercial airport, which opened in 1967. The facility has since undergone numerous renovations and expansions that have increased its size and capability.

Today, Tucson International Airport covers nearly 1,700 acres of land with four runways that measure up to 12,530 feet long. It is one of only three airports in Arizona that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, enabling it to provide service for all types of travelers. The airport boasts three terminals with more than 40 aircraft gates providing access to over two dozen major domestic and international airlines including American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines.

At TIA there are numerous amenities available for travelers such as baggage claim services; traveler information desks; transportation options including car rentals from companies like Hertz or Avis; duty-free shopping; restaurants ranging from grab-and-go bars to sit-down eateries; ATMs for currency exchange; wireless internet access; charging stations for laptops or mobile devices; and even pet relief areas for those traveling with their furry friends!

In addition to passenger amenities, TIA offers cargo shipping services via airlines such as FedEx Express or UPS making it a major hub destination for international shipping needs. Their cargo facilities are capable of handling express freight services with shipments being transferred quickly between flights allowing them to reach their destinations more quickly than other airports around the country. Additionally they offer customs clearance services so that goods can be quickly cleared through Border Protection prior to being loaded onto planes bound overseas.

Tucson International Airport’s commitment to providing exceptional service has been acknowledged by industry publications such as SkyTrax who awarded them a 4-star rating based on customer service quality evaluations conducted by travelers from around the world. With its ever-expanding array of services and amenities it is no wonder that TIA continues to grow in popularity every year making it an essential part of travel both domestically and abroad!
