New shuttle bus service connects Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Changi Airport

SINGAPORE. Changi Airport Group and Singapore Cruise Centre have launched a shuttle bus service operating between Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Changi Airport.

The partners are hoping to improve connectivity for passengers who travel to and from Changi Airport and the Riau Islands of Batam and Bintan in Indonesia.

There will be eight return services on weekdays and 10 return services on weekends, with one-way trips are priced at S$2 (US$1.44) each.

“We are pleased to be able to launch this shuttle bus service so that ferry passengers can enjoy a fuss-free and seamless travel experience between Batam, Bintan and Changi Airport,” said Singapore Cruise Centre CEO Christina Siaw. “This is part of Singapore Cruise Centre’s commitment to work with our partners to deliver outstanding service to those who use our cruise and ferry port facilities.”

Changi Airport Group Managing Director of Air Hub Development Lim Ching Kiat commented:

“As a well-connected international air hub with over 380 city links, Changi Airport provides extensive connectivity for passengers travelling to and from the nearby Riau islands.

“We are happy to partner Singapore Cruise Centre in launching this new shuttle bus service, which provides greater convenience for our fly-ferry passengers travelling to and from these destinations via Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal – which is in close proximity to Changi Airport. This initiative is also part of [our] efforts to meet the growing demand for multi-modal transportation for our passengers.”

Singapore Cruise Centre awarded its first master duty free and general merchandise concession to luxury travel retailer DFS Group in December. The retailer was placed in charge of the development and operations of seven duty free outlets in the HarbourFront and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminals for five years, with a two-year option.

The award followed a public tender called through The Moodie Davitt Report for the development and operation of the duty free operations at the two marine facilities.

Last December, Singapore Cruise Centre and ferry operator Majestic Fast Ferry launched a ferry route between Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and Batam Centre. Prior to the launch, the terminal primarily served passengers travelling between Singapore and Bintan, as well as Nongsapura on the northeastern tip of Batam where many resorts and golf courses are situated.

Singapore Cruise Centre said it was also planning to launch a ferry route between Tanah Merah and Harbour Bay terminal in Batam with BatamFast Ferry. The service is expected to commence in July 2017.
