NEW ZEALAND. The Loop Duty Free New Zealand, Aer Rianta International’s (ARI) local brand, has opened the first phase of its revamped departures store at Auckland International Airport. The project will be completed this December.
The Loop Duty Free General Manager, New Zealand Tom Byrne said; “With phase one of the airport’s renovations now complete, this was a great opportunity for The Loop Duty Free to create a fantastic new look. We opened our first store in New Zealand just under two years ago and we believe this brand-new store will set a new benchmark for excellence in duty free retailing. We are extremely proud of it.”
To help footfall into the store in a highly competitive, dual-retailer scenario with Lagardère Travel Retail’s Aelia Duty Free, departing passengers are being encouraged to ‘Loop Right’ (the direction of the store in the main customer flow) to find the new store.
Byrne added: “We have worked closely with our suppliers to ensure their brands are presented in a way that resonates with shoppers. We are delighted that passengers travelling out of Auckland International Airport will be able to experience a fantastic offering in a striking new store.”
Byrne praised The Loop Duty Free team in completing the project. “A move of this nature in a 24/7 duty free operation required significant planning and organisation from our team,” he said. “It was great to see so many hands on deck and everyone rolling up their sleeves and getting involved.”
