UK/BELGIUM. Sim Local, the largest seller of SIM cards in the UK travel market, has opened its first standalone store outside the UK and Ireland at Brussels Airport.
The retailer’s new 16sq m shop is located in a prime position in the baggage claim of the airport. It is targeting international travellers to purchase SIM cards offering value EU roaming data plans from Orange, Proximus and Lyca.
These SIM cards will allow them to stay connected while in Europe, without incurring additional roaming charges.
The store is also offering an extensive range of accessories, from Panzer Glass and Skross among others.
Sim Local Chief Trading Officer Ian Rankin said: “We are delighted to be opening the doors to our Belgian store and are looking forward to serving passengers arriving at Brussels Airport.
“Our growing portfolio of stores, vending machines and shop-in-shop concepts is well-poised to capitalise on the return to international travel and we continue to look for opportunities to grow our existing estate.”
Brussels Airport Retail Manager Frédérique Ringoot said: “Sim Local’s offering is one that we believe is an excellent addition to our current retail portfolio, and provides a product and service that intercontinental travellers will value highly.”
He added: “We are looking forward to working with them as they embark on their journey with us.”
Sim Local now has points of sale at over 150 locations worldwide, including trading via prominent airport retailers WHSmith and its InMotion technology brand. The company’s store portfolio includes five at Heathrow and it has SIM card vending machines located across airports globally.
