UK. Dufry has struck a 12-year contract to manage the tax and duty free store at Norwich Airport. This is a new airport location for the company. It replaces Norwich Travel Retail Ltd, which ceased trading (under the Eclipse Duty Free name) in April after 18 years.
Redevelopment work on a 200sq m walk-through store is now virtually complete with an anticipated opening date of 9 June. The store will offer “an extensive product mix across all categories” noted Dufry. Around 500,000 passengers a year use the airport.
Dufry Divisional CEO for UK and Central Europe Fred Creighton said: “We would like to thank the partners of Regional and City Airports (RCA) for the trust they have placed in us and are delighted to have won this new contract at Norwich Airport. RCA is one of the most innovative regional airport operators in the UK and we look forward to working with them to realise their vision for a new retail experience at Norwich Airport.”
RCA is the airport management division of Rigby Group plc, which also owns and operates Coventry Airport, Exeter Airport and Bournemouth Airport. Dufry already runs the travel retail stores in both Exeter and Bournemouth under its World Duty Free brand.
