Ryanair has revealed its plans to open a new base at Paris Beauvais from December 3, 2020.
An investment of $200m has been made to have two aircraft at the facility, and 32 routes that connect the city to 13 different countries across Europe.
Included in the 32 routes are connections to and from Paphos and Manchester, both with twice-weekly services.
The new base is set to deliver several positive changes, including over 105 weekly flights and the creation of more than 2,300 direct and indirect jobs.
Jason McGuiness, Ryanair’s director of commercial, praised the gateway for its hard work: “We are delighted to conclude this long term investment with Paris Beauvais, who continue to work to deliver efficient operations and competitive airport charges, which offers the means for traffic growth and new routes at Ryanair’s fourth French base”.
Ryanair now offers passengers the ability to buy tickets from Paris Beauvais up to a year in advance, as well as providing the lowest fares to business and leisure destinations such as Barcelona, Milan, Faro and Thessaloniki.
During the months of April and May, Ryanair was forced to suspend the majority of its operations due to COVID-19.
François Rubichon, Paris Beauvais Airport’s chairman of the board, welcomed the new plans: “We are delighted for this achievement and to see such a mark of confidence from our first airline partner, the leading European carrier, Ryanair.
“Our historic relationship has been strengthened and is now evolving to a new dimension with this operational base, its jobs and the potential developments it will allow, especially in such challenging times for air transport.”
This is the first new base for Ryanair in Europe since the beginning of the crisis, but the decision comes just weeks after it warned it could close its Cork and Shannon hubs for the winter because of lower than expected demand.
