“ No lounge for star Alliance due to fire last year (2013). Earlier you could use Kenya Airways, but not any more. No lounge even for Priority pass holders. So waiting time was not very pleasant. Internet only for 20 mins, then at cost.”

“ Traffic in Nairobi always unpredictable so gauging how much time to allow getting there is problematic. The airport is shabby, the air con struggles and the Emirates "Lounge" consists of a table in the corner of the departure lounge ( where everyone sits ) with some bottles on it and some pretty disgusting looking food which is handed out if you have a boarding pass with Business Class etc. Needless to say the girl spends most of her time explaining why everyone cannot have a free drink, there is no separation of the area, all the seats are the same ( hard ) and the air co was the worst in the airport....all told a dispiriting experience and had I not have gone through all the security would have stayed outside in the main shopping area.”

“ Traffic to airport ...unpredictable No lounge for Priority pass holders due to fire last year. So waiting time was not very pleasant at all. Kenya Airways do not give access to priority pass holders even if they are from partnering liners. Lately (over the month), for each transit my luggage got mishandled. Got my luggage 1 day after arrival to final destination. Even though each time my luggage was tagged 'PRIORITY'”

“ Immigration is as always a nightmare and it doensn't matter i you have an e-Visa or you do the Visa at the airport. You've to line up and depending on how many planes just arrive it can take 1 hour. In my case I was faster without Visa, than my colleague with e-visa cause my queue was shorter as we arrived the terminal.”

“ Reserve time to get to the airport. Traffic can be awful and depending from which part of Nairobi you are coming it can take 3 to 4 hours. Security is just before the gate and at the gate there is no toilette or any chance to buy something to drink!! So prepare before. And no, you can't take drinks with you, you've bought in the departure area. There are a lot of shops in the departure area, all the same, cigarettes, sweet stuff, alcohol, "arts". No restaurants except a kind of small bistro.”
