Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport is the primary international airport serving the city of Tehran and surrounding region, located in the southeast of the metropolitan area. It was opened to the public in 2004, and serves over 25 million passengers annually, making it one of the largest airports in Iran. The terminal consists of three different sections, including a domestic section for domestic flights and an international section for flights outside Iran. In addition to offering passenger services, Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport also has extensive cargo operations, handling over 350,000 tonnes of air freight every year.
