Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal and is located in Kathmandu. It was named after late King Tribhuvan of Nepal. The first commercial flight at TIA took off on July 1, 1950, and since then it has been connected to over 20 cities around the world. It is the hub for Nepal Airlines Corporation and many other domestic airlines like Yeti Airlines, Buddha Air, Sita Air, and Simrik Airlines.

TIA provides services for both passengers as well as cargo flights. In 2010, it handled more than 3 million passengers with a total of 31,000 aircraft movements which included more than 8,000 international arrivals/departures. It consists of an integrated terminal building with three floors that house both domestic and international flights. The airport also has two cargo terminals where goods from all over the world are imported into Nepal.
