NETHERLANDS. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol created a Year of the Dog-themed customer journey to celebrate Chinese New Year.
The in-terminal experience was based around the popular Dutch picture book series Miffy, by illustrator Dick Burma. The titular character’s dog Snuffy was used as a key visual.
Hostesses distributed red packets and limited edition dog products to all arriving and departing passengers. The airport’s Wi-Fi was optimised for Chinese language users, who received a festive greeting when they logged on.
All digital screens and stores were decorated with a festive Year of the Dog look and feel.
In partnership with Union Pay, the airport built a luxury showcase “to create an additional touch point for passengers to view an overall product assortment of what we have to offer in the terminal”.
A series of limited edition Chinese New Year products were created exclusively for sale at the airport. These included a pashmina scarf, an official merchandise Miffy plush and a diamond, as shown below.
