Wilmington Airport is located in New Hanover County, North Carolina. It serves Wilmington and the surrounding area as a regional airport for air transport. The airport has two runways that are used for both private and commercial flights. The main runway is 5,000 feet long and the other runway is 3,700 feet long. There are also three parking lots with more than 1,500 spaces available.
The airport was opened on February 28th 1974 to serve as an alternative to ILM (the regional air transportation hub) in nearby Brunswick County, NC. Since its opening, it has been steadily growing and now serves more than 500,000 passengers a year.
