It could handle 1.35 million passengers annually, and in 2018, there was another terminal upgrade that added more baggage checkers and a duty-free shop. The gates were increased from 14 to 16. In 2000, the airport was renamed to Ioannis Daskalogiannis after a Cretan rebel during Ottoman rule.

Crete Chania Airport Reviews

★★★★☆
A smal airport and fast baggage clam all baggage has arrived after 10 minutes with Norwegian! The Lounge are OK standard and the food are delicious and the airport has no WIFI! The Customs are fast and if you take a Taxi Can you be in the city on 30 minutes! A very good airport and a god city to be in a!
- Gustaf Krantz

★★☆☆☆
Small crowded airport that had its best years. Normal to be waiting outside the terminal due to long queue. Garbage everywhere inside and the planes are often delayed here. Avoid this airport if you can. Everything is just terrible here.
- Knut Erik Tysnes

★★☆☆☆
- Mark Ludwig Milano

★★★★☆
ok, no problem, very good

★★☆☆☆
very small airport, old facilities and bad transportation my flight delayed about 20 minutes and there was no bus to chania center but only taxis which cost 20 Euro
- Orestis Swtiriadis

★★★★★
Nice small airport...only 25 minutes from city center and the buses are quite cheap...there is an expansion going on so there are works inside the terminal
- George Papageorge

★★☆☆☆
Chania airport was obviously in the middle of an expansion effort when the economic crisis brought Greece to its knees. Abandoned terminal constructions add to the bleak atmosphere, while the operational parts of the terminal are grim and downbeat. That said, it's not very far from Chania, and Chania is a nicer town than Heraklion, according to tourist guides...

No accessible Wi-Fi again this year. Passport check # 1 at Bag check-In will weigh bag but not accept it. Passport check # 2 at bag x-ray Passport check # 3 at Security for carry-on luggage Passport check # 4 at police desk for access to area for gate 5 Passport check # 5 at gate 5 (5 staff manually checking paperwork. Passport check # 6 at priority boarding section. Crazy !
- Alan Carroll

★★☆☆☆
I thought the airport looked dirty, until I had to visit what it was signed as "Toilets". This particular part of the airport was surely off limits for the cleaners. There were tenths of hundreds of travellers queuing to check-in and then waiting by the gates. The flights - almost all of them - were announced as delayed, but neither the departure time or the indication "deleted" was shows on the flights monitor by the gates. Some of the flights were announced while some others were not. Empty food packings overflowing the waste bins. Lousy security control, manly focused on keeping the water bottles away for the flights.
- Peter

★★★★☆
Nice airport new terminal facilities have opened...generally verything ok although there might be a conjestion at the security in summer
