It is government-owned with both charter and scheduled flights. It is the busiest in the summer and a destination for many European cities. It was founded in 1937 and named after the first governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias. During WWII, it was used by both German and Italian forces and had a 600-meter runway. Today, the runway is 2,373 meters (7,785 feet) and has one terminal.

CFU saw its first commercial flight in 1949 when a small aircraft with seven passengers from Athens arrived at the airport. Its original terminal was replaced in 1962 when more airways like Aristotle Onassis’ Olympic Airways offered international flights that needed both a terminal and an air traffic control tower.

Getting to CFU is easy. There are buses, taxis and car rentals to get you to and from the terminal. There are 271 parking spots with a fence and security for both short- and long-term parking. Shopping and refreshments are conveniently located in the terminal.

Corfu Airport Reviews

★★☆☆☆
Terminal viel zu klein, und überfüllt. Chaotische Abfertigung von Gepäck und Passagieren!
- Erik

★★★★☆
Women at check in was very slow, tagger not working, had to write herself, security check very quick, facilities are ok, like the free WiFi. Went to the cafe upstairs, food looked a bit sweaty. Still a very good experience!
- Gabriel

★★★☆☆
Corfu's Kerkira airport is small, meaning that there isn't a wide selection of shops and there is no Wi-Fi, but baggage claim still managed to take a long time. However, accessing the airport seems to be rather easy and it does not take too long to pass customs.
- Jack

★★★☆☆
Getting to Corfu Airport is a bit of a struggle due to the road network being a bit chaotic. The airport is fit for purpose which is for summer seasonal tourist traffic and it shows. Although at peak times the airport becomes congested in all areas (check-in, security, departure lounge). The air-conditioning could do with replacing as it was all but useless. There wasn't sufficient seating but again this is due to the demand the airport faces at other times other than peak. There are a number of food and retail outlets but these show alot of wear and tear. There was some kind of free wifi but it was poor at connecting to. Planespotting at Corfu Airport is pretty good. There are some good points in between the Gates 1, 2 and 3. These provide good views over most of the passenger apron and part of the runway. There are marks on the windows and you do get some reflections in the windows.

★★☆☆☆
Small old airport with old facilities. Worser of all I seen in Greece (i have seen 3 already). Totally new airport is required urgently. Facilities are overcrowded and need renovation. Just a place to jump into plane. Baggage claim zone is oldest one - no indication of flights, all baggage is placed on 2 transport lines. CHAOS!
- Stanislav Vartanov

★★☆☆☆
It is old and "traditional" greek airport. In summer there are many flights and the airport is small, so when we came in from the aircraft, there were too many people. Wifi is not working. I didn't find any food opportunities in arrival zone, so I had to wait when I will come to hotel and eat there. But baggage claim was really fast, we came to the belt, and after 2 minutes we had our baggage.
- Erik Rehulka

★☆☆☆☆
one of the worst Airports I've ever been to, it is way to crowded for the capacity of the airport and security, wich almost made me miss my flight, as the queues are so long that it is almost impossible to get through in the time from the check in starts to the flight boards
- Raini Svensson

★★★★☆
Also much better on return from Corfu. Straight to border control and our baggage was already on carousel. Well done again.
- Mike Bennett

★☆☆☆☆
The airport was more than overcrowded. It was a nightmare to get anywhere. We just made it even so we had 90 minutes to come to the gate.
- Guido Eikelmann

★☆☆☆☆
The worst airport I have ever been. Too(extremely) crouded in peak season. Women on checkin laziest person I have ever seen too. After check in, we had to carry baggage elsewhere for rentgen check. Ater that, we had to overtake security check line, if we didnt wana miss flight. A lot of complains from other ppl, who were waiting in that line, while we overtaking them.
