Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is one of the two international airports that serve Shanghai, China. Located in the western part of the city, the airport is a major hub for domestic and international air travel. It is also a strategic hub for passenger and cargo transportation in East Asia.

The airport opened in 1920 and was initially used as an air force base by the Chinese military during World War II. After the war, it quickly became a civilian airport and today serves both domestic flights within China, as well as numerous international destinations. The facility has three terminals, two runways and can accommodate up to 40 million passengers each year.

The main terminal at Shanghai Hongqiao consists of four floors which are home to over 80 shops and restaurants. There are also various car rental agencies near the terminal building. In addition, there are conference centers on-site where travelers can book meeting rooms or rent office space for short-term business needs. The entire terminal complex is also connected by an underground railway station, making it easier for travelers to get around quickly and conveniently throughout their stay at the airport.

In recent years, Shanghai Hongqiao has seen considerable growth due to the rapid development of its surrounding regions such as Yangtze Delta Region (JRD). As a result of this uptick in activity, there have been some large-scale renovations and expansions undertaken at the airport. These include construction of new runways, improved baggage handling facilities and added capacity for larger aircrafts such as Boeing 747s or A380s to use when taking off from or landing at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.

The airport also offers several service amenities including banks/ATMs, VIP lounges, 3D cinemas and prayer rooms with access to multiple faith traditions – all available within its passenger terminals. Moreover, travelers can take advantage of Wi-Fi access points throughout many areas inside the terminals allowing them to stay connected while waiting for their flight departure or arrival times. Meanwhile outside ground transport options like taxi cabs or shuttle buses helps passengers quickly reach downtown Shanghai or any other destination within China with ease.

In conclusion, Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is an important gateway into China providing efficient services and top notch amenities that make domestic and international travel through this hub a pleasant experience for all those who pass through it!

★★★☆☆
Always traffic control.

It is more quick to access SHA than PVG, if you are not travel on rush hour. SHA mainly focuses on domestic flights, so it is smaller and more crowded than PVG. Security check is strict. But the lounge of MU is much better than in PVG.

★★★★★
Really 5-stars airport, though not so new, but very convenicent, no crowded and everything seems fine. And it's really nearer to the urban, much better than Pudong. Will always fly from Hongqiao then, really a nice experience.
- Sun Wen

★★★★☆
Surprisingly clean, modern and worthy of being ranked amongst the top airports of the world. At least, that was the case for the Terminal 2 I was using. Check-in hall was organised and there were plenty of self check-in machines for those who want to escape the queues. Though there were many flights departing at the same time and the same airline can have multiple check-in desks at either ends of the hall, staff was at hand to facilitate so not much problems there. Airside was even more impressive with a wide spread of dining and shopping options, including even a halal eatery!
- Hafiz Bam

★★★★★
I got to the airport by Shanghai metro. The train arrives to the airport. You just have to get escalator to the terminal level. The airport is easy to navigate through. The service at the airport was slightly messy - I asked the staff where to go (in Chinese) and got a no-words response. The lady pointed the direction but it was not too clear where to go anyway. It wasn't too easy to find the way round by check-in desks. Otherwise the airport is traveller-friendly.
- Krzysztof Pawliszak

★★★★☆
The weather at SHA has never been sunny, but the airport itself is good, even better than PVG. My flight was carried by Air China, which does not have dominance at SHA so the boarding pass is not as good as it in PEK. The lounge is big enough for almost everyone.
- Yujie Cai

★★★★★
Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is a real transportation center with plane, CRH high-speed train, metro and bus connected.
- Northdirection

★★★☆☆
Lounge sucks! It's overcrowded and dirty, all food there is overcooked and just pfff... Next time I better go to MacDonalds than eat that shit...
