Pune Airport, also known as Lohegaon Airport, is located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra and serves the city of Pune. It is situated approximately 10 km from the city centre and operates domestic and international flights to a variety of destinations across India and around the world. The airport has two passenger terminals – Terminal 1, which handles domestic flights, and Terminal 2, which handles both international and domestic flights.

Pune Airport covers an area of 543 hectares and is equipped with a single 3,850-metre long runway along with apron parking bays for aircraft. As it doesn’t have any dedicated cargo facilities, air cargo operations are mostly handled by private freight companies like Fedex or DHL. Its infrastructure also includes two hangars for aircraft maintenance as well as other buildings such as fire stations, aircraft rescue & fire fighting units, passenger lounges and control towers.

The airport opened in 1948 under the name Lohagaon Air Force Base. It was initially used mainly by the military but was later upgraded to handle commercial traffic in 2014 when its first international flight arrived from Doha. Today, Pune Airport offers direct flights to various cities across India including Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. International destinations include Muscat, Sharjah and Kuwait City among others. It is also served by many major airlines such as Air India Express, SpiceJet and IndiGo among others.

Pune Airport serves more than 3 million passengers annually with an average day-to-day footfall of around 9500 passengers travelling both domestically and internationally. The airport operates round the clock with 24/7 custom services available at both terminals apart from immigration services that are open 16 hours a day during peak seasons (October – March). Car rental services are available at both terminals along with duty free shops at Terminal 2 plus food court facilities for passengers who want to grab a quick bite before boarding their flights.

★☆☆☆☆
One of the most horrible airport's I've been to. While the other airport's get revamped and upgrades, Pune Airport still remains the same. Untouched !!!! Why ? Dont you want to progress in life ? With the increase in domestic traffic and Pune becoming a secondary western export/import hub after Mumbai. It is high time they start expanding. This expansion should have started a long time ago. International flight have been stopped !! Why ? Because VAPO is not equipped with the facilities. It is high time they realize the opportunity benefits from Intl flights.

Pune (Lohegaon) is basically a civilan enclave in an Armed Forces Airport (Under the Indian Air Force). The terminal is managed by the Airports Authority of India and is quite small for a city of the size of Pune. Its quite congested a place. Entering into the airport is through two levels of CISF checking. The security check is quite slow - more because departures happen in blocks and a lot of passengers reach the place at one time. The security hold is not very big, and has too little facilities. Very basic waiting area - with torn furniture at places. I couldn't find any charging points anywhere as well.
