Václav Havel Airport Prague (Czech: Letiště Václava Havla Praha), formerly Prague Ruzyně Airport (Czech: Mezinárodní letiště Praha-Ruzyně, Czech pronunciation: [ˈpraɦa ˈrʊzɪɲɛ]), (IATA: PRG, ICAO: LKPR), is the international airport of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. It is located 10 kilometres (6 mi) west of the city centre and is, with over 11 million passengers in 2014, the busiest airport in the newer EU member states. It serves as a hub for Czech Airlines as well as a base for Travel Service including its subsidiary brand SmartWings, and is also a base for low-cost carriers Wizz Air and Ryanair. The airport is able to handle wide-body aircraft including the Airbus A380.

Duty Free Allowance at Prague Airport

If you are travelling to Czech Republic from a country within the EU, then you can bring in an unlimited amount of goods that you have bought in that country as long as the price you paid included tax and the goods are for your own personal use (this also includes items that you intend to be gifts).

What are the limits on duty free cigarettes/alcohol at Prague Airport from inside the EU

Despite there not being a limit on the amount of alcoholic and tobacco goods that you can bring in from a country in the EU, if you have goods that are more than the following guidelines, then there is a good chance that you will be questioned by a Customs Officer about what you intend to do with the goods:

  • 800 cigarettes, 200 cigars, or 1 kg of tobacco
  • 110 litres of beer
  • 10 litres of spirits
  • 90 litres of wine
  • 20 litres of fortified wine

What are the limits on duty free cigarettes/alcohol at Prague Airport from outside the EU

If you are entering Czech Republic from a country outside of the EU, then your allowance changes to the amounts listed below. Again, these must be for your own personal use. If you intend to sell the goods or if you go over these allowances, then you may have to pay duty and/or tax).

  • 200 cigarettes, 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars, or 250g of tobacco
  • 4 litres of still wine
  • 1 litre of alcohol over 22% volume or 2 litres of alcohol less than 22% volume
  • 16 litres of beer
  • up to £390 worth of all other goods
Prague Airport Reviews

★★★★☆
A good airport, easily reachable from the downtown by busses (32 CZK, i.e. slightly more than 1 Euro) or taxi (about 400 CZK from the city centre). It is a pity there are a few restaurants there and the prices are just crazy. It often takes very long until baggage is uncharged.

★★★★★
Best airport in Eastern Europe, very convenient and comfortable. Excellent connection from the city center, lots of shops and restaurants, very friendly staff!

★★★★★
Inthe terrible weather everything was ok and efficient. This time I really apreciate the services at PRG. Everything worked wel and fast, incl. de-icing.
- Kamil

★★☆☆☆
Even if airline knew (and informed passengers) the flight will be delayed three hours, the original time was written on the airport screens all the time without any other information. The boarding was messy, nobody took care about priority/non-priority, not talking about childs. Then we had to wait loaded in super cold windy bus with open doors while the driver went into the terminal to warm himself and chat (no paperwork!) with gate staff. Then the bus stopped next to the plane and after some time of waiting, only first doors were open, so everybody had to use them. I can understand whatever, but if there is delay or an yother specific situation, staff should ensure everybody (or majority) of passengers (customers) feel comfortable and not make things even worse. So usually, I rate with 4-5 stars, but today, it was nothing else than faux-pas, just a fail.

★★★★☆
Nice and clean airport with reasonable number of food stores and other attractions (plane spotting terrace, aviation documentary movie for free, etc). The connection to city center is pretty good as well (the only issue of public transportation is that a lot of info is only in Czech). Prague was the first international airport I've visited and I like to return here every time.

★★★☆☆
Getting to the airport sucks - no direct train, so you have to switch from metro to crowded bus. The check-in took almost 1 hour and 30 minutes, so arrive early if flying with Czech airlines, especially during lunch time. The good shops are before the security, then it is crazily overpriced - beer is 3-4x more expensive than in nice restaurants in the city center. Extremely high prices for ordinary services. I prefer Vienna airport way more.
- Ladislav Adamek

★★★★☆
long queue at check-in and no separate stand for luggage dropoff. the security check is right before the gate, so you need separate drinks for the time in the terminal and for the flight. btw i wanted to try kofola but struggled to find it :( i did see it in one place but then looked for it in vain. to be fair i had an independent connection and had no problems with getting the luggage and checking it in for my next flight, with 2 hours between the flights.

★★★★★
Very good Airport. Clean toilets. Very nice ERSTE Premier Lounge. Fast check in, fast security control.
- Paolo Frcek

★★★★★
Prague is generally a delight to travel through and makes quite an effort long-term to improve and innovate. If you check in online, it's not uncommon to get from your bus/taxi to the airside in under five minutes, including security. The airport now guarantees bottled water for €1 and has vastly improved dining options for all budgets, but it can be still tricky to get something to eat in the concourses, outside the central area.
- Juraj Kováč

★★★★★
Prague is my home airport and I think it's really good, one of the best ones in Europe. Fast check-in, great (not perfect) Wi-Fi and good Erste Lounge (again - not perfect). I hope I will fly again from or to Prague :-)
