Het heeft één asfaltbaan van 2.011 meter die in 2019 meer dan 8,9 miljoen passagiers zag van 69.434 vliegtuigbewegingen. Het bedient meer dan 10 luchtvaartmaatschappijen met de meeste daarvan seizoensgebonden vluchten van en naar bestemmingen als Grenoble en Marrakesh, evenals Melbourne, Florida in de Verenigde Staten.
BRS begon toen een groep zakenlieden in 1927 een vliegtuigclub wilde beginnen, dus ontwikkelden ze landbouwgrond tot de derde burgerluchthaven in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Het opende zijn deuren in 1957 en vervoerde in het eerste jaar 33.000 passagiers. In de jaren 1960 werden een nieuwe verkeerstoren en een langere landingsbaan geïnstalleerd. Een nieuwe terminal werd toegevoegd in de jaren 1990. Er zijn geen jetbruggen, dus passagiers worden met de bus of lopend naar hun vliegtuig gebracht.
Er is voldoende parkeergelegenheid voor zowel korte als lange termijn. Het grondvervoer omvat treinen, taxi’s, bussen en pendeldiensten, alsook autoverhuur.
