Het heeft één betonnen landingsbaan van 3.535 meter en één in de planning. Er waren 21 miljoen passagiers en 178.775 vliegtuigbewegingen in 2018-2019. Het heeft twee terminals, één voor binnenlands gebruik en één voor internationaal gebruik, en 65 gates met 23 jetbridges. Er zijn remote stands voor 42 vliegtuigen.
AKL begon als een aero club in 1928 toen de groep zei het een perfecte plek te vinden om een luchthaven te bouwen. In de jaren 1990 en 2000 werden pogingen ondernomen om nog een landingsbaan aan te leggen, maar de plannen gingen nooit door. In de loop der jaren zijn er verschillende terminalverbeteringen geweest, dus niet alle renovatieplannen zijn mislukt.
Parkeermogelijkheden omvatten lang- en kort parkeren, parkeren voor motoren en fietsen en meet and greet. Het grondvervoer omvat taxi’s, shuttles, ride-shares en openbaar vervoer.
